On July 23, 2024, the People's Government of Maguan County, Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, and Datang Yunnan Company held a seminar and exchange meeting and a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement in Kunming. The two parties signed the "Pingba Wind Farm Expansion Project (Maguan Area) Investment and Development Cooperation Agreement".

The expansion project of Pingba Wind Farm in the Maguan area aims to increase the total installed capacity to 200MW, with an estimated overall investment of RMB 1 billion. Prior to this, the Maguan County Government, together with Datang Yunnan Company, successfully completed the first major milestone of the Phase III wind farm (specifically located in the Maguan Bazhai area) in the Pingba area of Wenshan Prefecture, namely, a 100MW plateau wind farm was successfully connected to the grid for power generation at the end of 2023. This achievement marks that about 216 million kWh of clean energy can be delivered to the power grid each year, making an important contribution to the green transformation of the regional energy structure and environmental protection.

Wind power projects do not produce pollutant emissions during operation, which has a positive effect on improving air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This will help alleviate global warming and protect the ecological environment. The construction of wind power projects is often combined with ecological environmental protection.
