On July 23, 2024, Tongpa Yingtaong, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and Chairman of the Lao Electricity Company, who attended the 8th South China Expo, visited the State Power Investment Yunnan International booth and held a discussion with Wu Zhiquan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Yunnan International.
Tongpa Yingtaong expressed the hope that the two sides can continue to work together to explore more cooperation opportunities in multiple fields such as new energy and integrated smart energy, jointly create a new situation of clean energy cooperation, and contribute to the well-being of the people of the two countries and regional prosperity.
Wu Zhiquan said that Yunnan International actively responded to the Belt and Road Initiative and served the construction of a community with a shared future for China and Laos. Yunnan International's overseas projects have distinctive characteristics. It always adheres to ecological priority and green development, strives to build digital and environmentally friendly clean energy, adheres to technological innovation, actively promotes the localization of project management, and creates a people-oriented project. It is hoped that the two sides will strengthen cooperation, jointly promote green energy services for the community with a shared future for China and Laos, and help Laos build Southeast Asian batteries.
At the signing ceremony held at the green energy exhibition area of the 8th China-South Asia Expo and the 28th China Kunming Import and Export Fair on July 24, 2024, Yunnan International Engineering Co., Ltd. and Lao Wang Investment Co., Ltd. formally reached a cooperation intention and signed a memorandum of cooperation. The two parties plan to work together to jointly develop a series of new energy and its supporting renewable energy project groups in the southern region of Laos. It is expected that the total installed capacity of this series of projects will reach about 1 million kilowatts, marking the official opening of a new chapter in the cooperation between the two sides in the field of green energy.
