On July 31, 2024, the construction of Tongchuan Station of Xi'an-Yanzhou High-speed Railway, built by Shaanxi Company of Xi'an-Chengdu Passenger Railway and undertaken by China Railway Beijing Engineering Bureau Group, officially kicked off. This important milestone not only indicates that Tongchuan City is about to usher in a new leap in the high-speed rail era, but also injects new vitality into the western development strategy.

Tongchuan Station, a rising transportation hub, is located in Yaozhou District, Tongchuan City, only 2 kilometers away from the center of Tongchuan City. Its station is large in scale, designed as 3 platforms and 7 lines, and equipped with 2 8-meter-wide entry and exit tunnels to meet the growing travel needs of passengers. The total construction area of the station building reaches 11,998.53 square meters, of which the steel structure area occupies 9,410 square meters. The layout design of partial two floors above ground and partial one floor underground not only shows the simplicity and atmosphere of modern architecture, but also takes into account practicality and aesthetics.

The main structure of the station building adopts a sturdy and durable reinforced concrete frame structure, while the roof cleverly uses a spatial grid structure, which not only ensures the stability of the building, but also gives it a unique visual beauty. The station building is located on the west side of the main line, and adopts a line-side flat station building design, which realizes the convenient streamline mode of "flat entry and flat exit, bottom entry and bottom exit", providing passengers with a smoother entry and exit experience.

In terms of design concept, Tongchuan Station deeply integrates regional cultural characteristics, with the theme of "Red Zhaojin, Blue Yaoci". The high platform form of the station building is inspired by the Yaozhou landform and Yaowang Mountain. The architectural shape cleverly extracts the essence of the red Zhaojin culture, and the eaves design integrates the Tang style and Qin rhyme, implying the profound historical and cultural heritage of the city of Tongchuan.

In order to ensure the quality of the project, the construction unit implemented strict control measures on key links such as the depth of the hole and the compaction of the backfill soil, and arranged special personnel to monitor the whole process, measure in real time, and analyze regularly to achieve dynamic management. At the same time, in response to the call for environmental protection, environmentally friendly machinery such as static pressure pile drivers and environmentally friendly compaction pile drivers were used in the construction, which effectively reduced construction noise and protected the surrounding environment.

The completion and operation of the Xi'an-Yan'an high-speed railway will greatly shorten the train running time from Xi'an to Yan'an to about 1 hour, which will not only greatly improve the convenience of inter-regional transportation, but also have far-reaching significance for deepening the western development strategy, helping the rural revitalization of the old revolutionary base areas, and further improving and optimizing the national high-speed railway network layout.
