On September 19, 2024, Bayannur City officially launched a key part of the comprehensive project of desertification prevention and control, wind power and photovoltaic engineering: the construction of a 560,000 kilowatt wind power project in Shihahe Town, Zhongqi, Ulate. As an important part of the integrated project, the project has a total investment of up to 2.253 billion yuan, aiming to install 62 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 560 MW, and is expected to be fully completed and put into operation by the end of September 2025.

Once the wind power project is put into operation, its annual power generation capacity is expected to reach a staggering 1.287 billion kWh, which is equivalent to reducing the use of standard coal by 386,900 tons per year, which is of great significance to promoting the green economic development of Bayannur City and even Urad Zhongqi. It will not only effectively promote the transformation of the local economy to a green and sustainable direction, but also profoundly adjust and optimize the regional industrial structure and energy supply structure, and contribute to the goal of Urad Zhongqi moving towards an important national energy and strategic resource base.

The implementation of the project will stimulate a series of chain effects, lead Urad Zhongqi to form emerging industrial clusters in frontier fields such as photovoltaics, energy storage, and digitalization, and accelerate the transformation process of resource endowment into industrial competitive advantage. This process will not only strengthen the resilience of the local economy, but also inject strong and clean green impetus into the high-quality development of the whole banner, opening a new chapter of green development.Editor/Jiang Mingyue
