Recently, Monenco Consulting Engineers in Muscat has been appointed as a core consultant to participate in the upgrading and expansion project of a large-scale wastewater pipeline network in the province of Dhofar, Oman. The project was awarded by Nama Hofar Services, a subsidiary of Nama Group, with a three-year contract aimed at comprehensively enhancing the wastewater collection and treatment capacity in the region and supporting the modernization of public infrastructure.

As a state-owned holding enterprise responsible for electricity and water services in the southern province of Oman, NamaHofar Services is continuously promoting the expansion and upgrading of key public utility networks in the province of Dhofar. The wastewater system renovation project covers multiple professional fields such as civil engineering, structure, machinery, electrical, hydraulic, and automation control. Monenco will provide comprehensive design and construction supervision services for it.

This pipeline network upgrade is an important component of NamaHofar Services' series of strategic initiatives. In February of this year, the company officially put into operation the Saharut sewage treatment project located in Sarala, with a total investment of 45 million Omani riyals (approximately 117 million US dollars), which is currently one of the largest wastewater treatment facilities in the Dhofar region. The project can initially provide access services for 4000 users and reserves the ability to expand to 20000 households in the future.

To further enhance regional coverage, the utility provider has recently conducted on-site assessments in the Sadawa area to prepare for the planning of new wastewater treatment facilities. This series of measures aims to systematically increase the coverage of wastewater services in the Salar region from the current 76% to 95%, significantly improving public health and environmental sustainability.Editor/Cheng Liting
