[Hefei launches construction of 400 meter 'Luzhou Tower'] The "Luzhou Tower" project, a 400m atmospheric environment meteorological gradient observation tower jointly supported by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center and contracted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences Hefei Institute of Physical Sciences, has recently officially started construction in the future science city of Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center. As a large-scale scientific research facility that integrates fine and continuous observation of atmospheric pollution gradients, greenhouse gas fluxes, and meteorological factors, Luzhou Tower is planned to have 23 fixed observation and testing platforms and 1 continuously adjustable observation and testing cabin, with comprehensive observation capabilities reaching the international leading level. The tower is expected to be completed in September 2027, and will focus on conducting research on the three-dimensional distribution and evolution of air pollution in the future. It will also provide a key technical verification platform for the development of ground-based, airborne, and satellite based atmospheric three-dimensional detection equipment, effectively supporting the application demonstration and industrialization process of domestically produced high-end atmospheric detection equipment.
