On June 8, 2026, China Datang World's first 630 ℃ level secondary reheating ultra supercritical million kilowatt coal-fired power unit - Unit 1 of Datang Shandong Yuncheng 630 ℃ National Power Demonstration Project, successfully completed 168 hours of full load trial operation and was officially connected to the grid for commercial operation.
Project Overview
The Datang Shandong Yuncheng 630 ℃ National Power Demonstration Project is the only million kilowatt level coal-fired power demonstration project approved by the country during the 13th Five Year Plan period, and is also a key project for the conversion of old and new kinetic energy in Shandong Province. The main construction of the project will officially commence in August 2023.

The various parameters of the unit directly affect the power generation efficiency and operational benefits. The conventional million kilowatt coal-fired power units currently in service in China have a thermal efficiency of about 49%. The project optimizes operating parameters, improves systems, updates core materials, breaks efficiency limitations, and achieves a designed thermal efficiency of 50.05%. The main steam pressure is 35.5 megapascals, and the reheat steam temperature is increased to 631 ℃. The coal consumption for power supply is 256.28 grams per kilowatt hour, making it the world's first coal-fired power project with a thermal efficiency exceeding 50%.

Multiple cutting-edge technologies have been implemented in the project, and multiple core components have been put into use for the first time. C630R turbine rotor, ultra long titanium alloy blades, and domestically produced G115 ® New applications such as heat-resistant steel have achieved the world's top rankings in temperature, pressure, efficiency, and coal consumption for units of the same type.
