ADNOC, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, is about to complete the award of three major EPC sections for the billion dollar Umshayif Integrated Gas Cap Project. The document exchange has been implemented at the 2026 Energy Transition Conference, with global engineering giants in close competition. Two Chinese energy engineering companies have respectively taken the lead or core competition positions in different sections, embedding China's high-end engineering capabilities into the framework of natural gas capacity expansion in the United Arab Emirates.
Leading the onshore section
Lot 2 is an onshore EPC project, which includes condensate oil treatment and in-service facility renovation. China Petroleum Engineering Construction Corporation (CPECC) is listed as the top popular bidder, along with the UAE's Tajit, Greece's Archilodon, Oman's Galfa, and Egypt's ENPPI consortium.

The competition intensity is not reduced, but the Chinese side has a clear first mover advantage.
Competition for offshore facilities
Section 1 focuses on at least two gas wellhead platforms, gas injection platforms, and subsea pipelines, with the Middle East Lamprell and India Larsen&Toubro consortium currently leading the way, while Hyundai Heavy Industries and NMDC Energy, Italy Saipem and Singapore Seatrium are still catching up, and the final ownership is uncertain after multiple rounds of negotiations.

Maximum section game
Section 4 is the largest contract in terms of volume, including single point mooring, cross sea wharf, and wet air compressor unit; The popular players include Hyundai Heavy Industries and NMDC Energy Consortium, McDermott from the United States, and COOEC from China National Offshore Oil Engineering Corporation, as well as Lamprell and Larsen&Toubro Consortium, which have officially joined the competition. The top global camps are colliding head-on. Keywords: Middle East news and information, natural gas

Capacity and Strategic Positioning
After the project is put into operation, it will produce 600 million cubic feet of natural gas and 50000 barrels of condensate oil per day, which will be exported through Das Island; The United Arab Emirates aims to become a major exporting country by 2029. China Petroleum Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. and China National Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. are deeply involved in high-end EPC, serving both the host country's production capacity planning and consolidating the delivery chassis of high-end projects in the Belt and Road energy infrastructure.Editor/Gao Xue
