In southern Xinjiang, a large-scale energy project is rising, injecting strong momentum into regional power development. As the largest pumped storage power station in Xinjiang, since the start of Ruoqiang pumped storage power station, all builders have been working day and night on the construction line to overcome many problems such as geology and construction, and steadily promote various construction tasks. From underground cavern excavation to dam excavation and tunnel construction, each process is condensed with the sweat and persistence of the construction team. Recently, the project has made significant progress again, and the core cavern construction has successfully completed the first layer excavation, which will contribute to the stable operation of the southern Xinjiang power grid and the development of green energy. 

Break through the core cavern construction problems 

The tail gate chamber is one of the three core caverns of the power station, which is related to the long-term safe operation of the power station. It is mainly responsible for the work of tail water partition, unit maintenance and water stop, accident anti-seepage and so on. During the construction period, the team overcame the problems of underground cavern blasting and surrounding rock protection, and completed the excavation and support operations in an orderly manner. The completion of the construction marks the shift of the project from underground excavation to structural construction, and also paves the way for subsequent layered excavation, anchoring, lining and other processes. 

The overall engineering construction efficiency has been greatly improved

At present, each work area of the project is synchronously accelerated, multi-point flowering, and the construction rhythm is fully accelerated. The dam foundation excavation and backfilling are carried out in the lower reservoir, and the dam test and abutment construction are carried out in the upper reservoir. The excavation of the first floor of the main and auxiliary powerhouse of the water conveyance and power generation system was completed, and the water supply tunnel was dug up to 1800 meters. The upper and lower library connection road is expected to be completed in October this year. At that time, the transportation efficiency of materials and equipment will be greatly improved, and the efficient construction on site will be fully guaranteed. Green empowerment benefits southern Xinjiang 

The total installed capacity of the project is 2.1 million kilowatts. It is planned that the first unit will be connected to the grid in September 2030 and fully put into operation in December 2031. The power station can undertake the tasks of power grid peak shaving and energy storage. The annual power generation is 2.625 billion kilowatt hours, and the full load operation for 6 hours can meet the annual electricity consumption of 1.3 million households. The project saves 1.345 million tons of standard coal and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 4.046 million tons per year. The ecological and social benefits are very prominent.Editor/Li Xiaohua
