On July 12, 2020, the water delivery and irrigation district project of the Xixiayuan Water Control Project in Henan Province announced the winning results.

The water delivery and irrigation area project of the Xixiayuan Water Control Project in Henan Province is located on the north bank of the Yellow River in Henan Province and involves 6 counties (cities and districts) in Luoyang, Jiaozuo and Xinxiang. The project draws water from the irrigation gate already built on the north bank under the dam of Xixiayuan Reservoir in Jili District, Luoyang City. Through the construction of a 114.283km long main water channel from west to east, the water supply guarantee rate will be increased for the new Xixiayuan Irrigation District upstream. The higher Yellow River water is transferred to Wujia Irrigation District, the main trunk channel of People's Shengli Canal and Dagong Irrigation District. The total annual diversion of the Yellow River is 213 million m3, and the irrigation area is 311,800 mu. With a total area of 1.401 million mu, the project will arrange 13 various types of canal systems, and 570 new or renovated backbone buildings.

The Xixiayuan Water Conservancy Project water delivery irrigation area project can become the connecting link between the Yellow River and Beijing-Tianjin and even the entire North China water resources allocation, and it is a key project that can turn Henan into a strategic water resource allocation hub in North China.

Construction 2 bid: Newly built main water delivery channel (pile number 12+133.3~40+243.0) and channel building project in Mengzhou City. Including about 26.5km of new channels, 60 new buildings, including 5 channel inverted siphons, 1 culvert, 1 steep slope, 2 control gates, 2 diversion sluices, 1 backwater sluice, 2 cross-channel inverted siphons, 46 bridges, etc.; installation of 10kv power supply lines and building electromechanical gold knot equipment.

4 bids for construction: newly built main water conveyance canal (pile number 71+817.2~93+204.3, pile number 96+154.3~114+282.5) and channel building in Wuzhi County. Including about 38.2km of new channels, 85 new buildings, including 3 channel inverted siphons, 1 rectangular groove, 1 culvert, 1 steep slope, 1 control gate, 6 diversion gates, 1 dewatering gate, and canal crossing 9 inverted siphons, 1 hub, 61 bridges, etc. (including the inverted rainbow across the Zhengjiao intercity railway channel and Beijing-Guangzhou railway culverts do not include the railway jacking part); 10kv power supply lines and building electromechanical gold knot equipment installation.

Construction 6 bid: the project of connecting Dagong Irrigation District within Weihui City and Yanjin County. Including about 1.24km of newly built channels, 14.50km of rebuilt channels, and 32 new buildings, including 1 control gate, 1 diversion gate, 1 dewatering gate, 29 bridges, etc.; installation of electromechanical metal knot equipment for buildings.

Henan Water Conservancy First Engineering Bureau won 432 million bids; Henan Water Construction Group won 405 million bids; and China Hydropower Infrastructure Bureau won 42 bids. Editor/Peng Xue
