The Upper Tamaksi Hydropower Station is located on the Tamaksi River in Dolaka County, Janakpur Prefecture, the Central Development Zone of Nepal, at an altitude of more than 2,000 meters in the southern foothills of the Himalayas. With a total installed capacity of 456 MW, it is the largest hydropower project in Nepal. The dam of the project is a concrete gravity dam, with a height of 27 meters, a total length of 100 meters, a maximum effective storage capacity of 2.2 million cubic meters, a length of the diversion tunnel of 8 kilometers, and two pressure shafts of 372 meters and 310 meters, creating the highest in Nepal.
