The European Commission has officially approved the EU Solar PV Industry Alliance according to the REPowerEU plan. This initiative aims to expand the manufacturing of innovative photovoltaic products and modules to promote the installation of more photovoltaic systems in the European continent.
The EU Solar PV Industry Alliance is one of the key strategic initiatives under the REPowerEU plan adopted by the European Commission in May 2022. The European Commission has now officially approved this initiative, which is expected to be launched by the end of 2022.
Thierry Breton, member of the European Commission, said that the Union would cultivate innovative and value creating industries in the EU, so as to create more employment opportunities. By 2030, we may double these figures.
After its establishment, the alliance will bring together photovoltaic industry participants, research institutions, consumer associations and non-governmental organizations to formulate an action plan for the European photovoltaic industry value chain. In addition, it will also communicate and discuss with the EU and its member states on issues such as technology, supply chain, raw materials and financing channels.
The European Commission cooperates with EIT InnoEnergy, a European clean technology investor, to establish the EU Solar PV Industry Alliance on the basis of the European PV Program, which was proposed by the European PV Industry Association and EIT InnoEnergy in 2020 to expand the manufacturing scale of the European PV industry.
