Yarmag Interchange, located in the southwest of Ulaanbaatar, the capital, is like a jade belt lying across the land. Cars come and go on the bridge. As a landmark project linking the the Belt and Road Initiative and the "Grassland Road" Initiative, this first interchange in Mongolia contracted by China is a vivid example of the deepening friendship between the two sides and the benefits of cooperation to the people.

"In the past, there was always a traffic jam when going to and from school. After the Yarmag overpass was opened, it saved a lot of traffic time." Darcy Zebuge, who lives in the southwest of Ulaanbaatar, goes through the city to the school in the east of the city every day. For him, less traffic jam, more time for study and sports.

Yarmag Interchange was opened to traffic in November 2018. As one of the largest municipal engineering projects in Mongolia, the smooth opening of the overpass will help improve the traffic congestion in the capital and play an active role in accelerating the modernization of urban roads. Local people generally said that after the completion of the overpass, the travel time from the urban area to the airport was shortened by nearly 20 minutes.

"We should not only bring Chinese quality to Mongolia, but also let Mongolian personnel master more construction technology, so as to leave the friendship of the Chinese people here." Said Mi Tao, a Chinese engineer involved in the bridge construction.

The beam prefabrication and corresponding parameters of this overpass are all in accordance with Chinese standards. The beam body is composed of 77 box girders. The prefabrication, transportation and erection of box girders are all carried out for the first time in Mongolia.
