In the spring of Hainan, the Boao Forum for Asia 2024 Annual Conference is being held in full swing. The event not only brought together political and business elites from Asia and the world, but also became an important platform for countries to exchange ideas and seek common development. In this context, the reporter interviewed Mr. Zafar, former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan and Policy Adviser to the Secretary-General of the Boao Forum for Asia. During the conversation, Mr. Zafar deeply reviewed Pakistan's development process in the field of energy and looked forward to the future cooperation between China and Pakistan in the field of energy.
Mr. Zafar said that in the past, Pakistan had faced serious energy shortages for a long time, and insufficient power supply had become an important bottleneck restricting the development of the country. However, with the proposal and in-depth promotion of China's Belt and Road Initiative, Pakistan ushered in a turning point. In particular, the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has brought unprecedented development opportunities to Pakistan.
With the active participation and strong support of Chinese enterprises, Pakistan has built numerous energy infrastructure projects, including hydropower stations, wind power stations and solar power stations. The completion and operation of these projects not only greatly alleviated Pakistan's energy shortage problem, but also made Pakistan completely bid farewell to the "era of no electricity", and injected a strong impetus to the country's economic development and social progress.
Looking ahead, Mr. Zafar expressed confidence that Pakistan will further strengthen cooperation with China in the field of energy. The two sides will jointly explore green and low-carbon technologies to promote the development and application of clean energy. Pakistan will actively introduce China's advanced technology and experience, accelerate the transformation and upgrading of its energy structure, and make positive contributions to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals.
In addition, Mr. Zafar also stressed the deep friendship and close cooperation between China and Pakistan. He said that China and Pakistan are hardcore friends and have extensive cooperation in many fields. In the future, the two sides will continue to strengthen communication and coordination, jointly cope with various challenges and opportunities, and push forward the development of China-Pakistan relations.
