A few days ago, good news came from the 16th Hydropower Bureau. It successfully won the bid and officially started the construction of the access tunnel and ventilation and safety tunnel project of Fujian Hua'an Pumped Storage Power Station. This important progress marks that the Hua'an Pumped Storage Power Station in the national "Pumped Storage Medium and Long-term Development Plan (2021-2035)", as a key implementation project of the 14th Five-Year Plan, has officially entered a new stage of substantial construction.

The construction of the traffic tunnel and ventilation and safety tunnel sections started this time is not only the first start-up project in the preparation period of the Hua'an pumped storage power station, but also the starting point for the 16th Hydropower Bureau to participate in the construction of the power station as the first construction unit . At the grand opening ceremony, the 16th Hydropower Bureau had in-depth exchanges with the leaders of Fujian Energy and Chemical Group. The 16th Bureau of Hydropower stated that as a central enterprise deeply involved in Fujian, they have always regarded it as their responsibility to serve the construction of major projects in Fujian Province, and will use professional technology and ingenuity to ensure the high quality and efficiency of the Hua'an pumped storage power station during the preparation period. Hua'an Pumped Storage Power Station is located in the beautiful Hua'an County, Zhangzhou City. It is not only a key construction project of Fujian Province's 14th Five-Year Plan for Energy Development, but also a "pumped storage medium and long-term development plan (2021-2035)" of the country. The key implementation projects of the 14th Five-Year Plan have a total investment of approximately 9.1 billion yuan. The power station plans to install four 350,000-kilowatt reversible water pump turbine generator units, and the total installed capacity will reach an astonishing 1.4 million kilowatts. The power station hub project will include a series of core facilities such as upper reservoirs, lower reservoirs, water transmission systems, underground powerhouses and switch stations to build an efficient and environmentally friendly energy supply system. After the power station is put into operation, it is expected that the average annual power generation will reach 1.42 billion kilowatt-hours, saving about 755,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 2.069 million tons. It will promote the sustained and healthy economic and social development of Zhangzhou region and help achieve the national dual-carbon goals.
