The Pelesac Bridge, a great project created by Chinese enterprises, is not only a shining pearl in the Belt and Road cooperation between China and Croatia, but also a vivid witness of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. On that hopeful summer day in 2022, the bridge was officially completed and opened to traffic, bringing to a successful end a long-standing dream of the Croatian people - to connect the mainland with the Pelesac Peninsula.

This magnificent bridge is not only the largest infrastructure project undertaken by China in the EU, but also marks China's solid steps in the field of bridge construction in Europe. As the first Chinese bridge to cross European waters, the Pelesac Bridge not only showcases the outstanding strength of Chinese engineering technology, but also builds a bridge of profound friendship between China and Europe.

Recently, the Phoenix Center was honored to welcome the former President of Croatia, Mr. Josipovic. The leader, who is well aware of the friendship between China and Croatia, has set foot on Chinese soil many times to experience this ancient and dynamic country. During his tenure as President of Croatia from 2010 to 2015, he devoted himself to promoting the in-depth development of bilateral relations and laid a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, culture and other fields.

Mr. Josipovic's arrival here is not only an affirmation of the outstanding project of the Pelesac Bridge, but also a beautiful hope for the friendship and cooperation between China and Croatia. At the Phoenix Center, he shared with you his experiences in promoting the development of China-Croatia relations during his tenure and his bright prospects for the future cooperation between the two countries.

The completion and opening to traffic of the Pelesac Bridge has not only brought convenient transportation and economic development to Croatia, but also promoted cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and Europe. This bridge of friendship will carry the profound friendship between the two peoples, continue to witness the vigorous development of China-Croatia relations, and contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
