The Three Gorges Hydropower Station, also known as the Three Gorges Hydropower Project on the Yangtze River, is the largest engineering project in China's construction history. It is located in the Xiling Gorge section of the Yangtze River in Yichang City, Hubei Province. Together with the Gezhouba Hydropower Station downstream, it forms a cascade power station.

During this year, the Three Gorges ship lock operated 11,066 times, with a throughput of 169 million tons; the Three Gorges ship lift operated 4,614 times, with a throughput of 4.7859 million tons, successfully ensuring 574,100 tons of key emergency supplies. Crossing the dam safely and conveniently, while escorting more than 2.2 million tourists to enjoy the Three Gorges. The Three Gorges Hydropower Station not only demonstrates its strong engineering capabilities, but also plays an important role in promoting regional economic development and ensuring shipping safety.

The Xiaxia Hydropower Station is the largest hydropower station in the world, and its flood control benefits are considered the core benefits of the Three Gorges Project. Due to the vast territory and large amount of water in the Yangtze River Basin, floods are one of the common natural disasters. The construction of the Three Gorges Hydropower Station plays a key role in regulating the water level of the Yangtze River and reducing the pressure of peak flow. According to statistics, since the Three Gorges Hydropower Station began to store water in 2003, the peak flow of floods has dropped significantly, and there has never been a flood that exceeded the warning line. At the same time, the construction of the Three Gorges Hydropower Station has also had a positive impact on the economic development of Hubei region.
