In 2024, Qingdao actively implements the concept of green development and plans to implement a total of 273 park city construction projects. Among them, the original plan to start construction in the first quarter was 58 projects, but so far, the number of projects that have actually started construction has reached 89, making significant progress. Among these projects, 8 pocket parks and 1 community park have been completed, providing citizens with more high-quality leisure spaces.

In recent years, pocket parks have sprung up in Qingdao. They are spread all over the streets and alleys of the city and have become an indispensable part of citizens' daily lives. These small and exquisite parks not only satisfy people's yearning for a livable city, but also outline tranquil green spaces for leisure amid the bustling city. As an important node on the Haijun Road coastal tour route in the West Coast New District, the Haijun Road Rain Garden covers an area of 9,800 square meters and provides tourists with a high-quality green space that integrates camping and scenery viewing. This project cleverly integrates the construction concepts of parks and sponge cities, purifying rainwater through natural forces and achieving sustainable use of water resources.

At the same time, the construction progress of the Fenghe Ecological Sports Park in the West Coast New District, as the largest park combining sports and wetlands in Shandong Province, has also attracted much attention. The above-ground part of the park is an ecological sports park, and underground there is a fully underground sewage treatment plant with a daily processing capacity of 300,000 tons. This innovative design not only effectively eliminates odor, noise and other pollution, but also realizes the recycling of water resources and directly irrigates the sports park on the ground. Currently, the project has entered the main structure construction stage and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

In addition, Qingdao City also focuses on improving the service functions of hilltop parks. Since 2022, 60 hilltop parks have been renovated and upgraded. By improving park facilities and carrying out a series of activities such as "Park + Internet + Voluntary Planting", Qingdao allows citizens to participate more deeply in the construction and management of parks and share high-quality green spaces.
