China Shipbuilding Group recently held a grand signing ceremony with Qatar Energy Company in Beijing, announcing that it will build 18 ultra large liquefied natural gas transport ships with a capacity of up to 271000 cubic meters for the latter. This order not only sets a record for the world's largest single shipbuilding order, but also highlights the outstanding position of LNG transport ships as the crown jewel of the shipbuilding industry.

LNG transport ships are offshore super refrigerated vessels specifically designed for transporting liquefied natural gas, and they need to maintain the stability of their cargo at extremely low temperatures of minus 163 degrees Celsius. This extreme transportation condition makes the design and construction of LNG transport ships extremely complex and difficult, making it known as one of the most difficult to build ship types in the world and also regarded as one of the jewels on the crown of the shipbuilding industry.

Shanghai East China Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Corporation, once again demonstrated its strong shipbuilding capabilities by successfully signing a contract with Qatar Energy Company to independently design and build 18 ultra large liquefied natural gas transport ships with a capacity of 271000 cubic meters. These ships are not only the world's largest LNG carriers, but also have an astonishing 57% increase in carrying capacity compared to conventional 174000 cubic meters of LNG carriers. Keywords: the Belt and Road news, the Belt and Road project, overseas project.

The design parameters of these LNG transport ships are remarkable, with a total length of 344 meters, a width of 53.6 meters, and a depth of 27.2 meters. These dimensions ensure that they can carry more liquefied natural gas, thus meeting the growing global demand for clean energy.
