Recently, China Power Construction Nuclear Power Company contracted to build the world's largest, most efficient, best performance, the lowest cost of the new compressed air energy storage power station: Shandong Feicheng 300MW salt cave advanced compressed air energy storage demonstration project for the first time connected to the grid to generate electricity. It is of great significance to construct new power system in our country.

The construction scale of the power station is 300MW/1800MWh, the total investment of the project is 1.496 billion yuan, and the rated design efficiency of the system is 72.1%. It can achieve continuous discharge for 6 hours, generate about 600 million KWH of electricity per year, provide power security for about 200,000-300,000 households during peak electricity consumption, save about 189,000 tons of standard coal per year, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions about 490,000 tons.

Shandong Feicheng energy storage demonstration project is the "14th Five-Year" national key research and development plan landing demonstration project, successfully selected the National Energy Board "new energy storage pilot" demonstration project. The project adopts the advanced compressed air energy storage technology independently developed by the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and has completely independent intellectual property rights, and is equipped with the world's most advanced compressed air energy storage power generation integrated system, as well as the world's largest subcritical spherical tank (8000 cubic meters per unit capacity) in the field.

The power station uses the abundant underground salt cavern resources in Feicheng City, Shandong province to store gas, and uses air as the medium to achieve large-scale power energy storage on the power grid side. It has the advantages of large scale, high efficiency, long life, clean and pollution-free, and high safety. It can provide the power grid with power regulation functions such as peak regulation, frequency regulation, phase regulation, backup, and black start, and effectively support the stable and efficient operation of the power system.

The successful grid connection of Shandong Feicheng Energy storage Demonstration Project is an important milestone in the field of compressed air energy storage. It can effectively promote the rapid development of compressed air energy storage technology and industry, further consolidate China's international leading position in the field of compressed air energy storage, and lay a solid foundation for the large-scale promotion and application of advanced compressed air energy storage technology.
