On the afternoon of July 3, 2024, local time, President Xi Jinping met with Uzbek President Mirziyoyev before attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Astana.

Xi Jinping pointed out that at the beginning of 2024, Uzbekistan had the honor of paying a state visit to China, marking a new era in China-Uzbekistan relations. On the road of jointly building a community of shared future between China and Uzbekistan, we have stood at a higher starting point and jointly opened a new chapter in the development of bilateral relations. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, China is making every effort to accelerate its unique modernization process, and Uzbekistan is also actively implementing the Uzbekistan-2030 strategy to achieve comprehensive prosperity of the country. Our vision is both grand and simple, and the core is to continuously improve and enhance the quality of life of the people of the two countries and ensure that they enjoy a happier and more peaceful future. China is willing to work side by side with Uzbekistan, guided by the future and destiny of the country, and take the well-being of the people as its own responsibility, and work together to promote China-Uzbekistan relations to a higher quality and deeper level, and bring tangible benefits and well-being to the people of the two countries.

Xi Jinping stressed that China will fully support its efforts to safeguard its national independence, sovereignty and security, and is a trustworthy friend and solid partner of Uzbekistan. The two sides should deepen cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, earnestly implement long-term cooperation plans in the fields of economy, trade and investment, accelerate the construction of major infrastructure such as the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway, and strengthen cooperation in green energy and emerging industries such as photovoltaics, wind power and new energy vehicles, and jointly explore the path of sustainable development. The two sides should also continue to deepen cooperation in areas such as poverty reduction and social governance, and work together to improve people's living standards and social welfare. In order to promote friendship and understanding between the two peoples, China actively supports and encourages the interaction between the two sides in the fields of local exchanges, tourism cooperation, and mutual learning in education. China warmly welcomes Uzbekistan to participate in the 7th China International Import Expo as the guest of honor, and believes that this will open up a broader space for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

Mirziyoyev said that in January 2024, we jointly witnessed the important moment when Uzbekistan-China relations entered a new era, and the relationship between the two countries was upgraded to an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era. Under the outstanding leadership of President Xi Jinping, China has successfully withstood various risks and challenges with extraordinary courage and wisdom. It has not only achieved remarkable achievements in economic development, but also leapt into the forefront of the world in fields such as scientific and technological innovation. Ukraine expresses its sincere congratulations and wishes the upcoming Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee a complete success. We look forward to China's continued glory on the new journey.

Ukraine has always firmly adhered to the one-China principle, resolutely opposed any form of separatist behavior, and made every effort to combat the three forces of terrorism, extremism and separatism, and is committed to maintaining regional peace and stability. We regard China as our most reliable friend and partner, and are willing to continue to uphold the principles of mutual respect, mutual understanding and mutual support, deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and jointly create more mutually beneficial and win-win results.Editor/Zhang Liyuan
