The President met with Prime Minister Sánchez of Spain--Seetao

On the afternoon of September 9, 2024, President Xi met with Spain Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who is on an official visit to China, at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on bilateral relations, global governance, economic cooperation and other issues. The President emphasized the original aspiration of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Spain and the willingness to deepen cooperation, and proposed to jointly promote high-quality cooperation, and pointed out China's firm determination to reform and open up and the new opportunities brought to China-Spain cooperation. Prime Minister Sánchez conveyed greetings from the King of Spain, spoke highly of the closeness of Sino-Spanish relations, and expressed his desire to deepen cooperation and promote people-to-people exchanges. The two sides also exchanged views on current international hotspot issues such as the Ukraine crisis and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, demonstrating the common position and responsibility of the two countries in global governance.
