[The world's 10000 ton furan dicarboxylic acid production line has started production] On September 10, 2024, the groundbreaking ceremony for the 10000 ton production line of Lifu Biological Furandic Acid was held in Tongling City, Anhui Province. It is reported that this is the world's first 10000 ton furan dicarboxylic acid production line. The total planned investment for this project is about 1 billion yuan, and it is scheduled to be officially put into operation by the end of 2025. After the project is completed and put into operation, it will produce 15000 tons of FDCA annually, with an expected output value of over 1 billion yuan. The project will adopt a full process continuous technology, using inexpensive sugars such as glucose and non grain biomass enzymatic hydrolysis sugar solution as raw materials. Through independently developed catalyst systems, continuous flow reaction equipment, and fixed bed oxidation devices, efficient isomerization dehydration and mild air oxidation will be achieved. Innovative catalytic technology and advanced synthesis processes will promote the low-cost large-scale production of FDCA and the widespread application of downstream furan based biobased new materials. Furan polyester has the characteristics of "biological source, low-carbon environmental protection, excellent performance, and wide application", but the efficient and green synthesis of its monomer FDCA has always been a bottleneck problem restricting industrial development.
