At 7:15 on September 10, 2024, the first Beidou navigation sounding balloon was successfully launched at the Bangor National Basic Meteorological Observation Station of the Xizang Autonomous Region, 4706 meters above sea level, marking the completion of the Beidou sounding high-altitude meteorological observation station at the highest altitude in the world. After the meteorological observation station was put into operation, it transformed from ground meteorological observation to a collaborative meteorological observation of "ground+high altitude" for the first time, effectively filling the gap in high-altitude meteorological data in Qiangtang. 

At the same time, it further optimized the layout of the meteorological observation station network, providing scientific data support for accurately grasping the atmospheric characteristics of the upper reaches of China's weather system, better carrying out disaster prevention and reduction, and ensuring ecological civilization construction.
