[Wang Yi Meets with Estonian Foreign Minister Chahekna]On September 26th, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Estonian Foreign Minister Chahekna during the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Wang Yi stated that Estonia is an important partner of China in the Baltic Sea region. Friendly cooperation is the main theme of bilateral relations, which conforms to the common expectations of the two peoples and is also the direction that both sides need to continue to grasp. China and Estonia have different historical and cultural backgrounds, environments, and challenges, but this does not affect the two countries from strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation, serving the well-being of the people, or jointly maintaining international peace and security on the basis of respecting the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter. China is willing to continuously enhance mutual trust with Estonia, continue to value each other's legitimate concerns on core interests, and lay a solid political foundation and inject vitality into bilateral relations. As an important member of the European Union, we hope Estonia can promote EU institutions to adhere to free trade, resolve differences through dialogue and negotiation, and promote the healthy and stable development of China EU relations.
