[Dongguan advanced attosecond laser scientific device is about to start construction]The Development and Reform Bureau of Dongguan City recently announced that the highly anticipated advanced attosecond laser facility project has received budget approval from the National Development and Reform Commission, marking the start of construction of this national major scientific and technological infrastructure in Dongguan Songshan Lake Science City. This move marks another scientific milestone for Dongguan after the Chinese Spallation Neutron Source, demonstrating its continued deep cultivation and leadership in cutting-edge technology fields. As a unit of time shorter than femtosecond (1 attosecond=10 ^ -18 seconds), the ultra short time scale of attosecond provides unprecedented opportunities for scientists to observe electron motion and study electron dynamics processes in depth. It is worth noting that the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to outstanding contributors in the field of attosecond lasers, further highlighting the significant significance of this project in promoting technological progress.
