On May 16, the iconic arched curtain wall of the main terminal of the EPC project of Nasiriyah International Airport in Iraq undertaken by China State Construction was fully closed, marking that the project construction has entered the stage of indoor hardcover, refreshing the construction record of super-large public buildings in Iraq and setting a new model for the construction of super-large public curtain walls in the Middle East.
The project is located in Nasiriyah City, Iraq, and the construction content includes the new main terminal on the landside, VIP terminal, hotel, air traffic control building and other buildings, single airside construction, runway, apron and other facilities, as well as 25 kilometers of road connection line, which will become the largest aviation hub in southern Iraq after completion, and help the development of transportation in southwest Iraq and become a model project for China-Iran cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative.
Module assembly mm docking
In the face of a narrow working surface and a tight construction period, the project team innovatively applied the full-process prefabricated construction system, decomposed the arched steel frame into 24 standard units, realized the rapid assembly and integrated hoisting of the super-heavy steel structure, and the main structure adopted a double-machine crane installation scheme, and completed the installation of nearly 2,000 tons of steel structure within two months, and the splicing error of each structure was controlled within a reasonable range and the construction task was completed with high quality.
Coating innovation is the nemesis of the heat wave
In view of the extreme high temperature and strong sandstorm environment in Iraq, the façade of 6,000 square meters of Low-E insulating glass is customized, and the nano anti-sand erosion coating technology is used to greatly improve the light transmittance and reduce the solar radiation structural layer, and the elastic connection node is used to reserve the space for thermal expansion and cold contraction, and the glass bursting problem caused by the temperature difference between day and night in the desert is solved.
Arc aesthetics and cultural empowerment
The façade of the main terminal building is based on date palm trees, and the team combined the model to install hundreds of special-shaped glasses, optimize the installation accuracy and loss, reproduce the texture of the trunk of the date palm tree through the phased grid texture, and present a regional culture-themed light show at night, creating a continuous hyperboloid arched structure curtain wall with a length of 540 meters, and building the largest special-shaped glass curtain wall building in Iraq.(This article is from the official website of Seetao www.seetao.com.
