[Chinese companies shortlisted for bidding on Kuwait's 500 MW photovoltaic project] In 2025, Kuwait officially announced the list of nine qualified bidders for the 500 MW Dabdaba Photovoltaic and Shagaya Renewable Energy Project (Phase III, Phase II). The project is located in the Shagaya Renewable Energy Park in Jehra Province and is jointly promoted by the Kuwait Partnership Project Management Authority, the Ministry of Water, Electricity and Renewable Energy, and the Kuwait Academy of Sciences. The shortlisted consortium includes multiple international energy companies, including the consortium formed by China Jingke Electric Power Hong Kong Company and Kuwait Combined Group Contracting Company, as well as the consortium formed by China Sinotec Company, TLC, and Mohammed Abdulmohsin Al Kharafi&Sons. Other finalists include Saudi ACWA Power, Total Energy of France, Kalyon Enerji of Türkiye and other international enterprises. The winning bidder will undertake the entire process of designing, financing, constructing, holding, operating, and maintaining the power station, and transfer the project assets to the Kuwaiti government after the 30-year operation period expires.
