[500MW/2000MWh！ A certain energy storage project has successfully won the bid] According to foreign media reports, renewable energy developer Someva Renewables and generator retailer AGL Energy have obtained approval from the Australian federal government to develop a 2GWh wind and energy storage project in the Riverina region of central New South Wales (NSW).Akaysha Energy is currently developing an Orana battery energy storage system with a capacity of over 1.6GWh, and the construction work is already halfway through. The project will be equipped with 247 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 1300MW, and will be accompanied by the deployment of a 500MW/2000MWh battery energy storage system with a duration of 4 hours. The project has an investment of approximately AUD 2 billion (approximately USD 1.29 billion) and is expected to create around 900 construction jobs and up to 40 operational positions. The construction period is estimated to be around 55 months. Someva Renewables stated that the project is awaiting a final investment decision (FID) and plans to commence construction by the end of 2026. According to the access rights provided by the power grid operator EnergyCo for the Southwest Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), approximately 831 MW of energy storage systems will be deployed during this phase.
