[Niutanwei Water Treatment Plant Expansion Project Signed Contract] Recently, a consortium formed by China Civil Engineering and local enterprises in Hong Kong successfully signed a contract with the Water Supplies Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for the "Expansion Project of Ngau Tam Mei Water Treatment Plant - Expansion of Ngau Tam Mei Fresh Water Main Distribution Reservoir, Improvement of Raw Water Tunnel Intersection (Room G) and Installation of Water Pipes" project, promoting a new chapter in the construction of Hong Kong's water supply infrastructure. The project is located in the Ngau Tam Mei area of the New Territories in Hong Kong. The project involves the design and construction of a 54000 cubic meter main water distribution reservoir, the construction of approximately 0.6 kilometers of access tunnels, and the upgrading of approximately 6.7 kilometers of water pipes from Ngau Tam Mei Water Treatment Plant to Castle Peak Road. The total project duration is expected to be 66 months, with a planned start date of November 2025. As an important livelihood project, its completion can significantly enhance the water supply capacity of areas such as Yuen Long, Tin Shui Wai, and San Tin, improve people's well-being, and accurately align with the development plan of the northern metropolitan area of Hong Kong, providing core infrastructure support for its development. The consortium formed by East China Survey and Design Institute Co., Ltd. of China Electric Power Construction Group and China Water Resources and Hydropower Sixth Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd. has successfully won the bid with a bid price of 427 million yuan. This project includes four major sections: main channel management, branch channel management, special improvement, and information technology engineering. The main ditch treatment will build a 3.4-kilometer flood channel slope protection and bottom protection, and a 0.8-kilometer embankment; The management of the tributary involves the construction of 6.57 kilometers of ecological revetment; The special upgrading project will build 18.135 kilometers of patrol roads; The information technology project will build a digital twin base plate and a flash flood warning system. Six companies participated in this bidding process, and after evaluation, four companies entered the final stage. The joint venture of China Electric Power Construction East China Institute is far ahead with a comprehensive score of 92.38 points.
