[Gansu Province Discovers 700 Million Tons of Metallurgical Magnesium Dolomite Ore] Recently, according to the Department of Natural Resources of Gansu Province, a large magnesium dolomite deposit with a total resource of 700 million tons has been successfully discovered in Kongdong District, Pingliang City, Gansu Province, marking a major breakthrough in mineral exploration in the region. The deposit is located in the Zhuanmatai area of Kongtong District. The exploration results show that the ore body is located in the shallow marine carbonate strata of the Wangquankou Formation of the Jixian System in the Middle Proterozoic, and is a high-quality magnesium dolomite deposit. At the same time, the mine has the advantages of large scale, shallow burial, gentle dip angle, and stable thickness, making it convenient for open-pit mining. According to estimates, the accumulated amount of dolomite ore for magnesium smelting within the open-pit mining boundary exceeds 700 million tons, and there are also more than 300 million tons of dolomite for construction that can be comprehensively utilized. In addition to being an important raw material for smelting magnesium metal, this dolomite mine can also be used in industrial fields such as refractory materials, metallurgical fluxes, glass, and ceramics, with enormous potential for comprehensive resource utilization.
