[China's 200MW/800MWh semi-solid energy storage project connected to the grid]On the Gobi Desert in Wuhai, Inner Mongolia, a new type of "electric granary" is quietly changing the energy landscape in the northwest. On December 1, 2025, the 200000 kW/800000 kWh semi-solid state battery energy storage project invested and constructed by China Green Development Group was officially connected to the grid for power generation. This is not only the largest semi-solid lithium battery energy storage project in China that has been connected to the grid, but also marks the official entry of semi-solid state energy storage technology into the stage of large-scale commercial operation.
This project adopts China's self-developed semi-solid lithium iron phosphate battery technology, which significantly improves safety, energy density, and cycle life compared to traditional liquid batteries. The project covers an area of approximately 100 acres and is equipped with 160 energy storage battery compartments and 40 integrated converter and boost compartments. It has the ability to regulate peak and frequency with a power output of 200000 kilowatts and a capacity of 800000 kilowatt hours, and can deliver 189 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity to the power grid annually. Through the flexible scheduling mode of "daytime power storage and nighttime peak shaving", this project will effectively enhance the new energy consumption capacity in the northwest region and provide important support for the stable operation of the power system.
The scale of the connected Wuhai project has doubled compared to the previous largest semi-solid energy storage demonstration project in China, which not only reflects China's leading position in the field of large-scale application of semi-solid energy storage technology, but also provides important practical experience for the innovative development of the global energy storage industry.
