[The expansion of Hankook Tire's US factory is nearing completion]Against the backdrop of increasingly fierce competition in the global tire industry, Hankook Tire's significant investment in the United States is about to bear fruit. According to recent reports from foreign media, the expansion project of Hankook's factory in Clarksville, Tennessee, USA, has been completed by 95%. This project, with a total investment of 1.6 billion US dollars, is entering its final stage and is a key step towards achieving its strategic goal of "ranking among the top five global tire sales by 2030".
The factory was put into operation in 2016, with an original annual production capacity of 5 million tires. After this upgrade, the annual production capacity will be significantly increased to 10 million passenger car and light truck tires, and an additional 1 million truck and bus tire production capacity will be added. Rob Williams, President of Hankook Tire USA, stated that the new production line is expected to start testing after Thanksgiving 2025, complete testing in early 2026, and plan to be fully operational by the end of the first quarter of 2026, achieving full load operation by 2027.
This capacity expansion not only significantly enhances Hankook's supply capacity in the North American market, but also reflects its determination to deepen its global layout through localized manufacturing. As the project approaches completion, Han Tai is steadily advancing its global strategy aimed at reshaping the industry's competitive landscape in the coming years. Editor/Yang Beihua
