[Nanchong Guang'an Railway enters the construction fast lane] During the critical period of accelerating the construction of the Chengdu Chongqing economic circle and promoting transportation integration, Northeast Sichuan is experiencing favorable conditions for rail transit. On November 28, 2025, the environmental impact assessment of the newly built Nanchong Guang'an Railway (Nanguang Railway) project entered the approval and public announcement stage, with the public announcement period ending on December 5. After the environmental impact assessment is approved, the construction of the entire line will begin, and the countdown to full construction begins. The project line starts from Nanchong North Station and passes through multiple places before connecting to Guang'an East Station of the West Chongqing High speed Railway. The total length is 94.807 kilometers, with a new mainline of 85.289 kilometers. One new station will be built, and three stations will be utilized and renovated according to high-speed railway standards, with a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour. The planning of the Nanguang Railway attaches great importance to ecological protection, with relatively high bridge and tunnel ratios, strict land compensation and reclamation, fine balance of soil and stone, and no separate sand and stone material yard. The total investment is about 19.715 billion yuan, including special environmental protection investment of about 309 million yuan. Its construction is a key project to fill the gap in the regional road network, which is of great significance for promoting the integration of Northeast Sichuan into the Chengdu Chongqing economic circle and optimizing industrial layout.
