[85.5 kilometers! China builds the farthest offshore wind farm connected to the grid]On December 15, 2025, when the last giant wind turbine blade began to rotate deep in the Yellow Sea, China's offshore wind power entered a broader "deep blue". On this day, the Three Gorges Jiangsu Dafeng 800 MW offshore wind power project achieved full capacity grid connection. It is located 85.5 kilometers offshore, making it the farthest offshore grid connected project in China to date, marking the successful entry of China's offshore wind power into the deep sea.
The farthest offshore distance of this project is 85.5 kilometers, far exceeding conventional offshore wind power projects. This distance poses unprecedented challenges to the reliability of wind turbines, the stability of power transmission, and offshore construction and operation. The successful grid connection of the project means that China has systematically mastered and broken through a series of key technological bottlenecks in the development of offshore wind power.
A total of 98 wind turbines were installed in the project, with a total installed capacity of 800 megawatts. Three offshore booster stations and one offshore rescue platform were also constructed as supporting facilities. After being fully put into operation, it can annually deliver a large amount of clean electricity to the power grid, significantly optimizing the regional energy structure and providing stable impetus for the green development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
The completion of the Dafeng project is not only the completion of a power station, but also a concentrated demonstration of China's wind power industry capabilities. It has accumulated valuable experience and verified the technological system for the future large-scale development of deep-sea wind power resources in China, and is a solid milestone for the industry to march towards deeper and broader oceans. On January 22, 2025, China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) received significant good news that Unit 2 of the Guangdong Lufeng Nuclear Power Project had successfully completed the first concrete pouring of the nuclear island. The achievement of this critical milestone is like pressing the start button for the main project of the unit, marking the official entry of the unit into the main construction phase. It is worth mentioning that, together with the Guangdong Lufeng Nuclear Power Unit 1, Shandong Zhaoyuan Nuclear Power Unit 1, Zhejiang Sanao Nuclear Power Unit 3, and Fujian Ningde Nuclear Power Unit 6 that have already started construction this year, China General Nuclear Power Corporation will fully open its firepower in 2025 and start five new nuclear power units at once. This series of actions not only demonstrates the strong strength and firm determination of CGN in the field of nuclear power, but also injects strong impetus into the optimization and adjustment of China's energy structure and the high-quality development of clean energy. On December 19, 2025, the EPC project of the shared energy storage power station on the power grid side of Lanshan County held a groundbreaking ceremony in the Economic Development Zone of Tafeng Town, attended by personnel from relevant provincial and municipal departments and Deputy County Mayor Pan Zhipeng. The project was registered on November 21, 2025 and is planned to be put into operation before June 30, 2026. It covers an area of approximately 20191 square meters and will include a 100 MW/200 MWh energy storage system, a 110 kV booster station, etc. It will be promoted by Pengli Energy Storage Technology with a total dynamic investment of approximately 250 million yuan. At 10:26 am, Pan Zhipeng announced the start of construction. This power station is of great significance in optimizing the energy structure and enhancing the stability of the power grid. All parties will ensure its construction and promote its early effectiveness. Editor/Cheng Liting
