[The renovation and expansion project of South China Expressway has started] On December 29, 2025, the second phase of the South China Expressway (Taihe Cencun section) renovation and expansion project officially started at the Taihe Hub Interchange, marking the upcoming upgrade of this north-south transportation artery in Guangzhou. Since its opening in 2003, this section of the road has become one of the channels with the highest northbound traffic volume and has been in a state of supersaturation for a long time. This renovation and expansion will be implemented according to the standard of a two-way eight lane highway with a speed of 80 kilometers per hour on the main line. After completion, it will achieve more efficient interconnection with 9 expressways, greatly improving traffic capacity. The project will also build a new elevated bridge from the entrance and exit of Fenghuang to the section of Botanical Garden Road, directly crossing multiple overpasses to facilitate the rapid entry and exit of north-south vehicles into the city. It will also add a connecting ramp with Guanghe Expressway to optimize traffic conversion and effectively alleviate congestion pressure at key nodes such as Chungang Interchange.Editor/Cheng Liting
