[Installation of Nuclear Island for Unit 1 of Shidao Bay Nuclear Power Expansion Project]On December 28, 2025, the installation of the nuclear island for Unit 1 of China HUANENG Shidao Bay Nuclear Power Expansion Phase I Project officially began. The project will construct two nuclear power units using China's third-generation "Hualong One" technology, with a single capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts and a construction period of 60 months. The project will commence construction in July 2024 and is planned to be completed and put into operation in 2029. By then, it will provide approximately 20 billion kilowatt hours of clean electricity annually, equivalent to reducing standard coal consumption by 5.78 million tons and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 14 million tons, effectively promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of energy in Shandong Province. The project adopts the management mode of the main owner, and has laid a solid foundation for the smooth progress of the project by establishing a three-level supervision system and promoting the application of more than 100 advanced construction technologies.Editor/Cheng Liting
