[The reconstruction project of the S26 highway has officially started] On January 3, 2026, the construction of bridge pile foundations for the reconstruction project of the S26 highway (provincial boundary G15 highway) officially began, marking the comprehensive launch of the upgrade project for this important passage connecting Shanghai and Jiangsu. The project starts from the border between Shanghai and Jiangsu provinces in the west and ends at G15 highway in the east, with a total length of about 18.8 kilometers, located in Qingpu District. The core content is to widen the main line of the S26 Shanghai Changzhou Expressway, upgrade it to a two-way 8-lane road by widening on both sides, and simultaneously implement the reconstruction of nodes such as Zhaozhong Highway and G15 interchange, as well as the optimization of toll stations. The project aims to improve road capacity and safety level, overcome traffic bottlenecks, and strengthen the rapid connection between Shanghai and the Suzhou Wuxi Changzhou metropolitan area.
