A special symposium organized by the National Energy Administration has opened up a new trillion level track for China's new energy industry. The National Energy Administration organized a special symposium on the development of the green fuel industry. Wang Hongzhi, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the National Energy Administration, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Song Hongkun, member of the Party Group and Deputy Director, presided over the meeting, officially elevating the green fuel industry to the level of national energy security strategy.

From carbon reduction tools to energy security pillars

The meeting clearly pointed out that the development of the green fuel industry has four strategic significance: it is conducive to replacing oil, ensuring energy security, reducing carbon emissions, promoting green development, promoting non electric utilization and consumption of new energy, enhancing new development momentum, and is an important direction for the development of new energy productivity in the energy field.

These four statements imply a fundamental shift in the strategic positioning of green fuels - they are no longer just tools for environmental protection and carbon reduction, but also strategic options for national energy security. Against the backdrop of geopolitical instability and profound adjustments in the international energy landscape, this shift is particularly noteworthy. China's energy strategy is shifting from relying on oil to focusing on electricity and green fuels.

Five principles plan the development path

The meeting emphasized the need to adapt measures to local conditions and coordinate policies to promote the healthy and orderly development of the green fuel industry, and put forward five principles: adhering to systematic planning, strengthening top-level design and planning layout; Adhere to pilot projects and explore the formation of a scientific development model for industries; Adhere to innovation leadership and continuously enhance the competitiveness of industrial development; Persist in optimizing the environment and provide strong support for the large-scale development of industries; Persist in demand driven and coordinate international and domestic markets.

Industry analysis suggests that this is highly similar to the pace before the hydrogen energy industry plan was introduced, indicating that the national level may soon introduce a special plan for green fuels, clarifying production capacity targets and demonstration base layouts. The proposal of coordinating the international and domestic markets means that green fuels not only need to meet domestic demand, but also layout the international export market.

China is expected to shift from an energy importing country to an exporting country

In the current context, green fuels mainly include green hydrogen energy, green methanol, green ammonia, sustainable aviation fuels, biofuels, and liquid fuels for electricity conversion. Compared with traditional fossil fuels, green fuels have low-carbon and sustainable characteristics, and can be directly applied in the fields of transportation, industry, shipping, and power generation.

The landmark event during the Spring Festival has written a footnote to this strategic shift: the world's first ship of green ammonia has officially set sail, from Far East Technology Group Chifeng Zero Carbon Industrial Park, with the buyer being Lotte Precision Chemicals from South Korea. This successful delivery has verified the full chain connection from green electricity hydrogen production to ammonia synthesis, storage and transportation customs clearance, and international shipping, marking China's completion of the complete value chain from green ammonia production to application. This breakthrough means that China is trying to transform its advantage in renewable energy into energy trading capacity, and is expected to shift from a net importer of fossil fuels to a green energy exporter. With the successive introduction of supporting policies, the entire green fuel industry chain involving upstream new energy generation, midstream power conversion technology, and downstream storage and transportation applications will officially enter the takeoff channel.Editor/Gao Xue
