This project provides support for the Yangtze River transmission channel of the Gansu Zhejiang ± 800 kV high-voltage project, relocating the original 500 kV line to the ground and reserving two 500 kV cross river channels. The project is the first 500 kV transmission pipeline crossing the Yangtze River in China, with a shield section length of 3554.4 meters and a tunnel outer diameter of 11.6 meters. On March 26, 2026, the mobilization activity for the construction of the second cross river channel between Suzhou and Nantong was held in Nantong, and Vice Governor Ma Shiguang announced the start of construction. The project starts from Xiaohai Hub, crosses the Yangtze River and connects to National Highway 204, with a total length of 42.951 kilometers, located between Sutong Bridge and Shanghai Sutong Bridge. The entire line is constructed according to high-speed standards, with eight lanes in both directions for the cross river section and six lanes in both directions for the connecting line, with a designed speed of 100 to 120 kilometers per hour.
