[The South to North Water Diversion Project has launched its annual water transfer program] On April 17, 2026, the emergency water supply project for the northern extension of the first phase of the South to North Water Diversion East Line started supplying water to Tianjin from 2025 to 2026 at Jiuxuan Sluice in Jinghai District, Tianjin. In April, the plan is to supply 10 million cubic meters of water, with a focus on supplementing agricultural water in the overexploited groundwater areas along the South Canal and Machangjian River, while also taking into account the replenishment and ecological restoration of the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal. As a key water source for the control of overexploitation of groundwater in North China, this project has supplied a total of 321 million cubic meters of water to Hebei since its launch in October 2025.Editor/Cheng Liting
