Recently, in the Khorgos International Border Cooperation Center, located on the border between China and Kazakhstan, the roar of bulldozers broke the peace of the past. The Kazakhstan China Friendship Zone project has officially started construction here. A modern complex integrating commerce, logistics, and digital services is emerging at the border between the two countries.

Multi functional complex construction in stages
The project is located in the cooperation center of Kazakhstan, with plans to construct a display trade complex and logistics center. The first phase will have a construction area of 800000 square meters and 700000 square meters respectively, and the second phase will also be equipped with 150000 square meters of cold chain storage facilities. The project is jointly promoted by investors from China and Kazakhstan, and is expected to create about 1000 job opportunities for Kazakhstan and significantly enhance local investment attractiveness.

One stop service to solve cooperation pain points
Jangbur, the joint chairman of Kazakhstan and China Investment Center Kazakhstan, stated that the project will integrate multiple services such as customs, logistics, finance, translation, law, and settlement, providing a one-stop business cooperation platform for entrepreneurs from both countries. The investor expects that after the completion of the complex, Kazakhstan's regional tax revenue is expected to double. Chinese Co Chairman Sun Jianzhong emphasized that the project will be developed into a high-quality cooperation achievement with demonstrative significance between Kazakhstan and China.

Assist Kazakhstan in filling infrastructure gaps in the region
At present, the infrastructure of the cooperation center in Kazakhstan is still lagging behind that of the Chinese region. The landing of this complex will promote the expansion of cross-border trade scale, optimize logistics supply chain, and drive the transformation and upgrading of key links such as cold chain and warehousing. The project is planned to be fully completed by the end of 2027, when the border port of Khorgos will usher in a new round of upgrading of cross-border cooperation.Editor/Gao Xue
