Flying eaves is one of the important expressions of the national style of Chinese architecture. Through this special treatment and creation on the eaves, it not only enlarges the lighting surface and is conducive to draining rainwater, but also adds the upward movement of the building, as if it is a kind of spirit. The eaves are lifted upwards, and the overlapping eaves in the middle of the building complex create a magnificent atmosphere and the unique flying and brisk charm of ancient Chinese buildings.

The building that supports the cornice is called the dougong, the ancient royal dougong has the eaves pecked with high teeth, and there are so many things that people must not use it.

But in the ancient town, we can see such a bucket arch, using the ancient architectural bucket arch structure form, using modern technology on the reinforced concrete beam slab, using the short wood and bucket-shaped square wood (bucket, arch, high, rising, warping). ) The dougongs that are overhanging outwards are stacked on top of each other. Colorful paintings are painted on the dougongs, showing the unique charm of ancient dougong art with modern technology.

Although the cornice is small and the basic shape is relatively simple, the height and length of the cornice are also difficult to grasp at the time of design. The so-called one-point increase is too long, and one-point decrease is too short. But it is the finishing touch in the whole building, so the cornices need to be carefully carved by skilled craftsmen in order to appear light but not frivolous, simple but not mechanical, majestic but not rigid.

The poet Han Yu of the Tang Dynasty wrote in "Shiquhe Station": Chen and Quhe Station are miserable. A group of black nesting trees, and a bird's-eye swallow.

Under the eaves, the new swallows come to spring mud and build nests under the eaves. From then on, the Cangshan Mountains are at sunset, and here is a warm home; spiders also come to join in the fun, form dense nets under the eaves, and fight against the insects every day. Brave, and always pay attention to the best encounter in the world.

The cornice of the ancient town connects architectural art and poetic life. Every cornice is a story of the ancient town waiting for you to listen to. Editor/He Yuting
