According to the official website of the People’s Bank of China, the People’s Bank of China is scheduled to issue on April 26, 2021. A set of gold and silver commemorative coins for Chinese craftsmen (group 2). There are a set of 2 gold and silver commemorative coins, including 1 gold commemorative coin. , 1 silver commemorative coin is the legal tender of the People’s Republic of China.

Among them, the pattern on the back of the 15-gram round silver commemorative coin is a combination of typical Beijing-Zhangjia railway projects, trains, theodolites, and the Great Wall, and the words and denominations of "Chinese Craftsman Zhan Tianyou" are also published. The Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway and Zhan Tianyou, the "Father of Chinese Railways," once again became associated with the RMB, which is of great significance and inspiring.

The Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway is the first railway surveyed, designed and constructed by the Chinese themselves. In 1905, the Western powers' competition for road rights in North China became increasingly fierce. The poor and weak Qing government decided to raise funds, design and build the railway from Beijing to Zhangjiakou by itself. Prior to this, there were already more than a dozen railways in operation in China, but none of them had their own distinctive brand. Faced with the Western ridicule that "the engineer who can build the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway in China has not yet been born", Zhan Tianyou, who returned from studying in the United States, was ordered to serve as the General Office and Chief Engineer of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway Bureau.

In September 1909, the entire Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway was completed, two years ahead of schedule. The Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway changed the history that Chinese people could not build their own railways. The character "person" written by Zhan Tianyou among the lofty mountains and ridges expresses the backbone, wisdom and glory of the Chinese people.

Why did Zhan Tianyou repeatedly board the commemorative coin?

In fact, the thunderous name "Zhan Tianyou" is not the first time that it has become associated with the renminbi. In 1987, the image of Zhan Tianyou appeared on a silver coin weighing 12 ounces (approximately 375 grams). The People’s Bank of China issued a precious metal coin for the 125th anniversary of Zhan Tianyou’s birth. The head of Zhan Tianyou and "Zhan Tianyou" were engraved on the coin. ", the old steam train and the herringbone line of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway. During the construction of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway, in order to allow the train to climb the steep slopes smoothly, Zhan Tianyou designed an ingenious "people"-shaped turn-back line along the mountain, which became a pioneering work in the history of Chinese railways.

Facing the Juyongguan Pass with high mountains and thick rock layers, he used the method of drilling from both ends to the middle. The Badaling Tunnel was too long and he decided to dig a well from the middle and then to the two ends, amazed the world!Editor/Xing Wentao
