The China-Laos Railway connects Kunming, Yunnan, China, and Vientiane, the capital of Laos. It is the first international railway in the Belt and Road Initiative, with China as the main investor, Chinese technical standards, Chinese equipment and direct connection with the Chinese railway network. The Mohan Station of the China-Laos Railway, located on the border between China and Laos, is the only national-level railway port between China and Laos. Let's walk into Mohan Station and feel the story of China and Laos jointly building the Belt and Road and sharing prosperity and development.
The China-Laos Railway has been in operation for 15 months, and Mohan, a border town located at the southernmost tip of Yunnan Province, is ushering in rapid development. The cross-border freight trains between China and Laos have become a unique landscape here.
Wang Junfeng, Deputy Station Manager of Mohan Station of Pu'er Depot of China Railway Kunming Bureau Group: As everyone has a deeper understanding of the China-Laos Railway, the demand for transportation has increased immediately. From the original one or two columns per day, it has been steadily maintained at six pairs and above, and has reached eight pairs at most.
The total length of the China-Laos Railway is 1,035 kilometers, from Kunming in the north to Vientiane, the capital of Laos in the south. Through this railway, tropical fruits from Southeast Asia can enter China in as little as 26 hours. As a result, Laos has realized its dream of transforming from a land-locked country to a land-linked country.
In March 2023, the total volume of international freight on the China-Laos Railway will exceed 3 million tons, and cross-border logistics transportation will cover Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and other countries.
Wang Junfeng, Deputy Station Manager of Mohan Station of Puer Depot of China Railway Kunming Bureau Group: A large number of daily necessities, electronic products, flowers, fruits and vegetables are transported to Laos and neighboring countries through the China-Laos Railway. At the same time, high-quality products from neighboring countries in Southeast Asia, Fruit delivery to the Chinese market. Imported grain and chilled aquatic products have now been included in the acceptance process of the General Administration of Customs, and will be opened for operation in the near future. The categories of goods transported by China-Laos railway will become more and more abundant.
Sharing with the station manager of the Lao section of the China-Laos Railway the problems that arise during operation, and meeting with other relevant domestic departments and representatives of Lao enterprises to discuss how to improve services, Wang Junfeng is busy and full of work every day. Today, the customs clearance time at Mohan Railway Port has been reduced from more than 40 hours to less than 5 hours. The China-Laos Railway, known as the golden channel, crosses mountains and rivers, connects friendship, and runs the "acceleration" of mutual benefit and win-win results.

I think that the work of Mohan Station will become more and more busy in the future, but there will also be more and more opportunities. We share opportunities and develop together. I believe that the future of the China-Laos Railway can be expected. Editor / Zhao E
