The main investor of Urad Rear Banner Taiyanggou Pumped-storage hydroelectricity Project is a consortium led by Inner Mongolia Power Group Comprehensive Energy Co., Ltd. and formed with Inner Mongolia Energy Power Generation Investment Group New Energy Co., Ltd. and Power Construction Corporation of China Group Beijing Survey, Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd.

The power station is located in Bayinbaolige Town, Urad Rear Banner, Bayannur City. The project is about 60km away from Bayannur. It is a daily regulation Pumped-storage hydroelectricity. The pivotal project is mainly composed of upper reservoir, water conveyance system, underground powerhouse system, lower reservoir, ground switch station and other buildings. The project construction scale is 1.2 million kW Pumped-storage hydroelectricity and supporting facilities. The preliminary installed capacity is 4 300MW single-stage mixed flow reversible pump turbine units, The rated head of the power station is 389m, and the normal storage levels of the upper and lower reservoirs are 1616 and 1210m, respectively. The total construction period is 72 months, and the total investment is 9.6 billion yuan. After the completion of the power station, it mainly undertakes tasks such as peak shaving, frequency regulation, energy storage, system backup, and black start of the Inner Mongolia power grid.
