Recently, the winning bid for Package 1 of the GS Hydropower Station Dam Engineering Supervision Service by Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Co., Ltd. was officially announced. China Water Resources and Hydropower Construction Engineering Consulting Zhongnan Co., Ltd. successfully won the bid with a bid amount of 139 million yuan. This marks that the national key energy project with a total investment of 39.7 billion yuan is about to enter the critical implementation stage of the main dam construction.
Convenient transportation supports construction
The dam site of GS hydropower station is located in Foshan Township, Deqin County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is situated at the border of Yunnan and Tibet provinces, and its geographical location is of great strategic significance. The upstream of the dam site is 18 kilometers away from Foshan Township, 170 kilometers away from Mangkang County, Xizang Autonomous Region, 46 kilometers away from Deqin County, 528 kilometers away from Dali City, and 842 kilometers away from Kunming City. It is particularly convenient that the G214 national highway runs through the left bank of the dam site, providing a solid and reliable transportation guarantee for the heavy transportation of materials and personnel during the construction period, ensuring the efficient progress of this super project.

The GS hydropower station project is classified as a first-class large (1) type project, and its permanent main hydraulic structures are first-class buildings with a large scale and extremely strict technical requirements. The construction of the engineering hub is complete, mainly including a concrete face rockfill dam, a right bank spillway tunnel, a right bank emptying sand flushing tunnel, and a right bank water diversion and power generation system. Among them, the selected concrete panel rockfill dam type has outstanding advantages such as stable dam slope, excellent anti-seepage performance, and strong seismic resistance, which is very suitable for the construction conditions of the power station. The total installed capacity of the power station is as high as 2200 megawatts (2.2 million kilowatts), consisting of four water turbine generators with a single capacity of 550000 kilowatts. After the completion of the power station, it will become the core support point for the stable operation and power supply of the regional power grid.
In addition, the slope range and types of the power station hub area project are wide, including the toe plate slopes of the left and right bank dam shoulders, the inlet slope of the power station, the inlet and outlet slopes of the flood discharge system, and many other permanent excavation slopes.
