The Yamal LNG project is located on the Yamal Peninsula at the northern end of Eurasia, more than 400 kilometers deep inside the Arctic Circle, and is the first super-large-scale energy cooperation project implemented in Russia after China proposed the Belt and Road Initiative. The project integrates exploration, extraction, compression, storage and sales, and is built in a global factory collaboration. It produces tens of millions of tons of liquefied natural gas a year and is transported to Europe and Asia by a Chinese-led fleet of polar icebreakers.
