On December 5, the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Colombia issued bidding documents for the first offshore wind projects. This initiative marks an important step in Colombia's efforts to promote the development of renewable energy and strengthen energy security.

Colombian mining Minister Camacho said at the press conference that the implementation of these projects will help strengthen Colombia's energy security and promote the country to become a model for renewable energy generation in Latin America. He stressed that such projects not only help reduce dependence on traditional energy sources, but also create jobs and boost local economic development.

The first offshore wind projects are mainly located in Magdalena, Atlantic, Bolivar and Sucre provinces, with an installed capacity of 200 MW per project. The tender period for these projects is expected to be 14 months and a wide range of global investors are invited to participate.

According to reports, the implementation of these projects will be in the form of open bidding, and competitive investors will be selected to participate. The investor will need to have excellent technical, economic and environmental capabilities and experience to ensure the successful implementation of the project.

In addition, in order to attract more investors, the Colombian government has taken a series of measures, including providing tax incentives, simplifying the approval process, and strengthening regulations. These measures are aimed at creating a favourable investment environment and promoting the development of the renewable energy industry.

As the global demand for renewable energy continues to increase, these projects in Colombia are expected to attract significant investment and become demonstration projects within the region. By introducing advanced offshore wind technology and management experience, these projects will help increase Colombia's renewable energy generation capacity, reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable development.
