The completion of projects by Chinese enterprises abroad injects new impetus into local economic development. On January 8, 2023, Highway 1 of the 100 kilometer municipal road upgrade and renovation project in Zanzibar, Tanzania, constructed by China Eastern Africa Limited, was officially opened. President Mwini of Zanzibar, Tanzania attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

The 100 kilometer municipal road upgrading and renovation project in Zanzibar is located in the core area of Zanzibar. The main content is to upgrade and renovate about 100 kilometers of roads in the main urban area, build two overpasses, and carry out municipal road ancillary construction. Among them, Highway 1 covered by the project is the most important tourist road in Zanzibar, connecting the airport to the famous scenic spot Stone City. Construction began in March 2023 and the main project was completed by the end of 2023. After completion, it will greatly promote the vigorous development of Zanzibar's tourism and trade, and enhance the city's appearance.

The opening of Highway 1 also marks the beginning of the construction and implementation of other sections of the project. President Mwini stated that the 100 kilometer municipal road upgrade and renovation project is the largest road project in the history of Zanzibar. After completion, it will further improve the connectivity of Zanzibar's road facilities and greatly alleviate urban traffic congestion. At the same time, President Mwini expressed sincere gratitude for the outstanding efforts and contributions made by China Civil Engineering in the project construction process, and highly appreciated the positive contributions made by China Civil Engineering in promoting local employment and economic development.

The opening of Highway 1 marks a substantial step forward in the construction of other sections of the project. Zanzibar President Mvini emphasized that the 100 kilometer municipal road upgrade and renovation project, as the largest road project in Zanzibar's history, will further improve the country's road infrastructure and significantly alleviate urban traffic pressure. He expressed sincere gratitude for this and highly praised the outstanding capabilities and tremendous contributions demonstrated by China Civil Engineering in the project implementation process.
